re-FLOW VR invites the users to an evocative experience, challenging their bodies and emotions and questioning what it means as a human to be in emergency. The VR participants do not watch a dance. On the contrary, by navigating themselves in a virtual space of dynamic juxtapositions and stimulus episodes, they move freely into the physical space, taking part unconsciously in a social choreography. Their personal decisions, whether to enter or exit the portals, activate their unpredictable journey from a snowy landscape to a dry dessert.
The main goal of the work is to propel choreography, proposing dance as an embodied experience and not as a product for viewing in VR headsets. By using Virtual Reality as an additional expressive tool for dance & composition, re-FLOW VR invites the audience to an immersive experience, challenging the VR users’ bodies and stimulus their minds. In re-FLOW VR, it is not about movement combinations or aesthetic imitations, it is about perceiving dance, in a social context, as an act of a collective experience which opens a social and a political debate after the VR experience.
Artistic Director of re-FLOW, Chrysanthi Badeka, shifts her focus of research to The Body in Emergency, creating a VR experience amidst pandemic with a strong team of creative collaborators: Andrej Boleslavsky in VR Programming, Constantine Nisidis in Visual Design & VR Programming, Lambros Pigounis in Sound Design and Yiannis Kranidiotis in Sound Programming.
